eastern phoebe, turtle dove, and hairy woodpecker

Even though it was cold (about 40 and falling) I decided to go for my walk late this afternoon, this Eastern Phoebe didn't seem to mind the cold.

I was suprised to see this peeking around the tree - I think it is a ringed turtle dove, not a native dove but probably wild now.

Yes the hairy woodpecker was upside down when I first saw her, they have amazing toes to hang on with!

It looks like someone painted a white stripe down her back.

They never cease to amaze me with their beauty and ability to survive even in this cool weather.

It's been raining the last few days, but here are a few photos from the past week or so.
Now I know why they named this one a "Yellow-rumped Warbler"

He has distinctive yellow shoulder patches too!

I think this is a young snowy egret with a very pale beak, if you zoom in close you can see the yellow shoes :)

This is what snowy egrets usually look like as adults.

I think this is an eastern phoebe.

UGH! This is a huge nutria, probably weighs 15-18 pounds! He was grazing and then went for a swim along the shoreline of mary's creek.
